Let go of the expectations of others... especially at the dinner table.

I get it, it sucks. When your acting career has no momentum, and everyone else in your family has an MBA, 2.5 kids, a picket fence, and a house.

While that may be what some call the American dream, the dream for an actor looks very, very different.

We love the highs, not so much the lows… We love something new every day, we love change, we love reading new stories and being a part of them.

But when we get to Thanksgiving dinner and our mom asks us why we’re still taking acting classes or when we’re going to get a real job… we’ve got to have something to combat it with.

One idea is to talk about the most recent thing that you’ve done in your career. Maybe it’s an amazing scene that you worked on in class, maybe it’s filming a scene for your new demo reel, maybe it’s going to a casting director workshop and building a relationship with them…

What are you Training for?

Sep 19, 2019

So I started rehearsing for a play this week & it reminded me what a kick-ass Training ground Theater can be.

I think we forget when we get too deep into Film & TV how valuable theater can be for #upleveling our career, because we're often working on 100+ page scripts.

I work with so many Actors who get stressed out if they get 5 pages or more for an Audition, so the question really is...

What are you Training for?

Are you Training for that Co-star today or are you Training long-term for a Series Regular where you've got 30 pages/night to tackle?

So I encourage you...go do a play. Remember what it's like to master 100 pages of...

If You don’t show up, another Actor will

May 29, 2019

One of the most amazing projects I’ve ever been a part of is coming out in theaters this month....it’s called Mine 9. It’s the combination of 3 coal mining disasters that have happened in the United States

Embarrassingly enough, I almost didn’t even go to the audition. My agent & I had decided to focus on bigger projects & it was a SAG low budget film.

The only reason I went to the audition was to get in the room & work with the Casting Director & the Director. With Self-Tapes taking over the industry, we rarely get this opportunity anymore.

Boy am I glad I went! The stars aligned & I was fortunate enough to work with an amazing Director, Producers, Casting Director & some of the most kick-ass Actors I’ve ever worked with.

And the icing on the cake?? This was a story that really mattered. We got to bring to light real people & their real life experiences.

The Director took some of the cast members to Appalachia, 3/4...
